Minister of Environmental Protection, Gideon Ezra at the Sapir center in the Southern town of Sderot on Tuesday November 6, 2007 and attended the Sderot Conference for Social and Economic Policy in the shadow of the Qassam rocket barrages that this town has been absorbing. The Sderot Conference for Social and Economic Policy is a centerpiece in Israel’s social debate and focuses on social and economic issues in Israel. Its participants included government ministers, members of the Knesset, researchers in various social fields, and social activists. The goal of the conference is to become “the motivating force behind the social discourse in Israel and a forum for the raising of issues, proposals, ideas, and ways of coping with Israel’s current reality.” Photo by Rafael Ben-Ari/Chameleons Eye.
