YOUTH PROTEST OVER IDF KIDNAPPED SOLDIERSWednesday, December 12, 2007 Noam Shalit, the father of Gilad Shalit makes a speech in Kerem Shalom on December 12, 2007. Noam Shalit said in his speech that he misses his son very much and hopes to see him and the rest of the kidnapped soldiers very soon. Thousands of youth from all over Israel participated in a protest meeting in Kerem Shalom in Southern Israel where the Israeli Soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped. Gilad Shalit is an Israeli soldier who was captured in a cross border raid by members of several militant Palestinian organizations on 25 June 2006. Shalit, a member of the IDF's Armor Corps, holds the rank of corporal. His abduction and the following cross border raid by Hezbollah, resulting in the abduction of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev into Lebanon, were key events leading up to the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon during summer 2006.
